“On a regular NYC day on my way to a shoot I found this girl sitting across from me in the subway… yeah, not so normal? You would think it was halloween! Nope.” Maly used a Canon 5D.

Photographer: Matt Mallams, San Diego, California
Photo title: Young Buck
Matt likes to “Play with the idea of working in response. I go out every day to see what I can find.” This gem was shot in Pelham, New Hampshire, at a wedding using a Canon 10D and 17-40 mm
Why not normal: It’s not every day you see kids dress like adults.

“I mean, who ever heard of being profoundly normal?”

Photographer: Thendara Kida-Gee, Seattle, Washington
Photo title: It Came From Over There
Thendara is still, after many years, looking for a porthole to a different dimension; any help would be appreciated. She adds that the creature shown here may be trackable to another dimension… she’s trying to find out. Taken on a Panasonic Lumix in the depths of some irish moss in a dimension she imagines to be other worldly.
Why not normal: It stares but its eyes are blank. It looks at you or does it look through you?

Photographer: Marsha Lutz, Sandpoint, Idaho
Photo title: Flying Classic
Marsha notes that this shot was taken with her Canon 20D while driving through Libby, Montana. “I begged my boyfriend to pull over so I could capture this flying car at a drive-in movie theater. I’ll admit to removing the post that held it in the air with Photoshop, but the rest of the scene was exactly as you see it. I loved the street lights in the background, they give it great perspective. No vehicles were harmed in the creating of this picture.”

Photo title: Scream
Primal passion mixed with fashion nabbed using a Canon 5D, Canon L series 24 - 70mm lens plus studio strobes.
Why not normal: Annie Leibovitz didn’t think it was “normal,” she said “Wow, this shot’s WILD!”

Photographer: Kyle Kappmeier, Branchburg, New Jersey
Photo title: Spinning out of Control
Kyle shares that he’s an amateur who has steadily fallen in love with the art of digital photography. His image was taken at Universal Studios, Florida and shot using a Samsung GX-10 DSLR with 18-55mm Schneider D-Xenon lens.
“It was an ultra-clear night with hardly anyone left in the park, which was how I was able to get a clear shot with no one in the background, using a slow shutter speed to capture the spinning globe.”
Why not normal: Someone needs to check the speed of the globe - spinning that fast can injure someone!

Photo title: Nanotechnology
Look closely at Rubin’s photomontage — he’s added cables and other computer components such as plugs and plastic bridles.
Why not normal: “Trying to create an invented manufactured organism, sort of a robot bug getting his power from a cyborg plant.

Photo title: Walking Shadows
This is “as shot” without digital manipulation. Equipment used include a Canon 1D Mark III and Lensbaby. “It’s not entirely normal to take your shadow for an evenig stroll.”
