treeBWNapa

Renegade’s heading north again to wine country, trekking with about 20 shooters. We’ll visit the Carneros Region:

>> 9:30am: Vine Village
This 25 acre site was founded in 1904 by the Peters family and first served as a plum and prune orchard, later became a thoroughbred horse farm. Today it’s a home for people with special needs. Photo points of interest include the old barn, irrigation pond, land, farm area, rookery (there are still a few herons and egrets present). Our tour hostess is Saanen Kerson.
>> Freeform shooting along Los Amigos Road, Milton Road
>> Brown bag lunch
>> 1pm: Adastra Winery
This is a 33 acre Carneros ranch that started off with heifers, but today houses an organic farm/vineyard. Wine tasting available if you like (fee-based). Our tour hostess is Kris Thorp.

Lexicon of Sustainability

Lexicon

Photographer, writer and filmmaker Douglas Gayeton is working on a new book and multi-media project with the SLOW food movement. In his book outline, he claims “We are the first generation to lose everything. We’ve gone from a world of infinite resources to one where everything has become disturbingly finite.” Gayeton has an exhibition running through end of June 2010 at Fort Mason in San Francisco.

He lives on a farm near Petaluma, California and with his wife operates Laloos, the first goat milk ice cream company in the USA. He is an active member of the local food producing community and his photographic works advocate their concerns. Gayeton also lectures frequently on art, technology and sustainability. His works have been reprinted in Time and other magazines and are held in numerous museum and private collections around the world.
